  • Rare Vintage teak extendable dining-room table by G Plan (UK), 1970’s

This table is of quality design and construction. The form is simple yet elegant, allowing the rich grain of the teak to shine. Featuring refined carved solid wood legs and frame. Concealed beneath the table, a clever butterfly extension seamlessly blends in, providing the versatility to comfortably seat six and up to eight.

Very good overall condition, structurally all in good order with some age-related surface wear and a few light marks to the tabletop as pictured. The wood has undergone restoration and has been sealed. There are some slight bumps in the veneer in certain areas, which is in line with its vintage age. However, this does not detract from the overall beauty of the table. The pricing has been adjusted to reflect this.

Our dedicated restoration team employs respectful and careful, in-house conservation techniques. We prioritize preserving the distinct character and patina of each vintage piece.

G Plan - E. Gomme Ltd was based in High Wycombe, England, a major center of British furniture manufacturing. The company was revered for its range of high-quality sideboards, tables, and other cabinet goods and for pioneering the concept of furniture sets designed and made to match. G Plan were a key player in midcentury furniture design and production. Initially created in 1898 by E Gomme it wasn’t until 1952 when Grandson and designer Donald Gomme created a furniture range for the masses that evolved the company into the G Plan that we know and love today. The company were pioneers of modular furniture and understanding every buyer's unique needs. In the 1960s the rising popularity of Scandinavian design created healthy competition for G Plan and their solution was to hire Ib Kofod Larsen a Danish designer known for clean lines and comfortable materials.

    G Plan ranges: Brandon 1953, Chinese White 1956, Tola & Black 1958, Limba 1960, Decorated 1961, New Tola 1961, Group 3 1962, Danish 1962, Collector 1962, Young Idea 1963, Country Style 1964, Quadrille 1964, Fresco 1966, Form 5 1967.

    G Plan 1970’s:

Sierra was an evolution from Fresco, but was sold alongside it rather than replacing it. Sierra had a lighter finish and simpler treatment. The range included upright and long sideboards, a dining table, a gateleg table and high and low backed dining chairs. Gomme dropped Sierra in 1975 in favour of an extended Fresco range.
