Striking Danish Modern Teak Sideboard, Denmark, 1960s
Danish Modern Teak Sideboard, Denmark, 1960s
A fine example of Danish Modern design, beautifully crafted in richly grained teak, this elegant mid-century sideboard features a clean, minimalist design reminiscent of Danish makers such as Omann Jun and Johannes Andersen.
The well-balanced layout includes a bank of four drawers on the left – the top fitted with its original green felt-lined cutlery tray – and two sliding cabinet doors on the right, opening to a spacious storage compartment with an adjustable shelf. The recessed square pulls and finely tapered solid teak legs complete the refined modernist aesthetic.
Despite the absence of a maker’s mark, the quality of joinery, timber selection and overall proportions clearly point to a high-grade Scandinavian workshop.
A timeless piece that will bring warmth and understated elegance to any dining room, living space or office. An investment-worthy piece of Danish design, equally suited to contemporary or vintage interiors.
Dimensions: L: 200 x D: 47 x H: 82 cm
Condition: Remarkably well-preserved given its age, displaying only subtle indications of wear. It has undergone a careful restoration and refinishing process using high-quality materials. A leg has previously been repaired (solid and stable). Original green felt tray shows some wear (see photos).
As with many quality Mid-Century pieces, this design thoughtfully pairs solid wood construction with a premium wood veneer—an approach widely used at the time to highlight beautiful grain patterns while ensuring lasting stability.
