    Erik Kirkegaard's 'Model 43' chair, stands as an iconic example of mid-20th-century Danish modern furniture design, emphasizing sleek, minimalist aesthetics with a focus on functional elegance. The design harmoniously blends high-quality wood, upholstery, and a generously sized seat to offer both exceptional comfort and visual appeal.     Constructed from solid wood, the chair features A-frame legs, elegantly shaped stretchers, sculpted armrests, and a curved backrest, ensuring maximum comfort and style, supporting the body extremely well with its thoughtful curves and angles.
     
    Erik Kirkegaard, a specialist in chair design, created pieces that were both simple and elegant. His designs, especially the famed “Model 49” chairs, are celebrated for their comfort, allowing for extended periods of seating without discomfort.
    There is a science behind Danish Modern design, with the renowned Copenhagen school of design conducting extensive studies on ergonomics, from the ideal chair height to the optimal depth of cabinets, reflecting the thoughtful craftsmanship behind these timeless pieces.

    Condition:
    In very good vintage condition, the wooden frames have been gently refursbihed and refinished.
    Newly upholstered with new high-density foam made up in a high-quality stain-resistant FibreGuard fabric from Stuart Graham Fabrics, which has Stain Free Technology, assuring it will be able to stand up to everyday stains, and has exceptional durability with a high rub count. 

     

     

    We try to capture the condition of our items in our photographs as best as possible. Prior to dispatch all items are carefully cleaned and re-coated with danish oil to ensure your item is looking its best when delivered.

     

    Restoration Process:

    In our studio workshop, every item undergoes a meticulous inspection and careful restoration process. We prioritize maintaining the original charm and patina of the piece, while also making it a beautiful addition to modern interiors.

     

    Our Approach Includes:

    • Examining and reinforcing the joints
    • Cleaning the wood and removing any stains
    • Conducting veneer repairs as necessary
    • Polishing or refinishing surfaces to enhance their appearance
