Featuring tapered legs, and a rounded spindle back, skilfully combining solid Oak and Imbuia, the subtle yet elegant design seamlessly complements various interior styles and easily pairs with modern chairs thanks to its simplistic lines.

The wood has been gently refurbished and refinished and in overall very good vintage condition, showing only minor wear consistent with its age.

The Binnehuis furniture stores were located in Cape Town, Stellenbosch Somerset-West, Newlands, Port Elizabeth and Johannesburg and were owned by a Dutch businessman and his wife, Mr and Mrs van Ewijck, who moved between South Africa and the Netherlands. It seems they were most prolific during the 1960s
Imbuia is not listed in the CITES Appendices, but is classified as “Vulnerable” on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
