    Condition

This set presents in good overall vintage condition.

The wood has been gently refurbished and refinished, preserving its original character while enhancing its appearance.

The chairs retain their original leather cloth upholstery, which remains in good condition. As expected with vintage pieces, there is a degree of age-related patina, including some marks visible on two of the seats. Please refer to the photographs for details — additional images are available on request. A section of small veneer chips at one end of the table has been professionally repaired; close-up images are available for reference.

About Frystark: Frystark furniture has been manufactured in Port Elizabeth since 1948, but brothers Derick and Douglas Frye preferred to shop for veneers, oils and designs in Europe. In the 1960's they moved to Cape Town to join forces with the Starke furniture manufacturing company.

As with many quality Mid-Century pieces, this design thoughtfully pairs solid wood construction with a premium wood veneer—an approach widely used at the time to highlight beautiful grain patterns while ensuring lasting stability.
