  • This refined set of six Model 193 dining chairs was designed by Inger Klingenberg for France & Søn, Denmark c 1960. Known for her architectural approach to proportion and clarity, Klingenberg created seating that balances sculptural presence with quiet restraint — qualities clearly evident in this elegant suite.

The chairs feature solid teak frames with Klingenberg’s signature slimline silhouette: vertical rear posts rising into a gently curved, wide backrest; tapering front legs; and a distinctively contoured seat structure that gives the design its light, airy stance —both ergonomic and visually striking. The floating effect of the seat, subtly lifted from the frame, adds to the refined, architectural quality of the design. The distinctive shaped seat adds comfort without disrupting the minimal geometry of the frame, demonstrating Klingenberg’s ability to merge practicality with refined detailing.

Produced by France & Søn—one of Denmark’s most renowned mid-century furniture manufacturers—the Model 193 reflects the company’s commitment to quality and innovation through its collaborations with leading designers of the era. Klingenberg’s design stands out as a particularly progressive and sculptural interpretation of the Danish dining chair.

Each chair carries the France & Søn maker’s medallion and 'Made in Denmark' gold stamp, confirming authenticity and the manufacturer’s renowned production quality of the period. Having been sensitively refurbished, the teak displays a warm, well-balanced tone with crisp joinery and clean lines that emphasise the designer’s modernist intent.

A rare opportunity to acquire a complete, labelled set — ideal for both contemporary dining spaces and collectors of mid-century Scandinavian design.
