The design is based on the English windsor chair. Comes with a tan leather seat pad and backrest. True collector’s item. Rocking in style.

A rare Ercol Grandfather rocking chair (model 315) designed by Lucian Ercolani as a celebration of ‘Windsor’ chair maker in High Wycombe during the late 60's. Ercol furniture is synonymous with good design, quality materials and craftsmanship and is built for longevity. It is now keenly collected and highly regarded. As this chair no longer in production. This piece is of the usual high quality one expects from this manufacturer. The saddle seat is of solid English elm and the steam bent frame and armrests are of beech. The chair is finished in an Ercol ‘Light / Blonde Finish’ and a satine protective lacquer. This piece still retains original label. - Retro Spaces
The rocking chair is in great vintage condition with some light marks commensurate with age and use. It is free of any damage or repairs. The chair is sturdy with no loose joints or spindles and no separation to the elm seat. It has been cleaned and waxed. The iconic British furniture brand 'Ercol' is not only notorious for its blend of quality craftsmanship but for their stylish designs also. Since 1920, this family business has produced hand-crafted furniture that has certainly stood the test of time, and has become more than just a household name. Ercol is one of the few leading British post-war furniture manufacturers still in operation today. Renowned for their innovation Ercol have been continually celebrated for their pioneering approach to furniture making and were market leaders for many of their most famous features and materials. This lovely rocking chair with larger exaggerated dimensions features the famous Windsor shaped back, and low down seat. With a solid elm seat and solid beech frames, the rocker skids have been specially designed to avoid tipping over backwards.

We deliver locally within Cape Town for a small fee and can accommodate collection by courier or in person. Collections must be made within two weeks of purchase as we cannot hold furniture for extended periods.
As to be expected with vintage items, this item may have minor amounts of wear. All of our items are available to view prior to purchase.
Although all effort is made to lighly refurbish and clean our furniture to best represent their original state, it must be noted that the majority of the items we source date from before 1980’s. For this reason signs of their vintage condition & age might still be visible. We try to point out any visible concerns.

Unfortunately we can not reserve any items until shipping has been finalized (the item should be purchased and checked out, with payment confirmation received if paid via EFT).
After purchase, we can assist you with costs from our preferred supplier.
Please note that all items shipped outside of Cape Town are wrapped extensively, we charge a small packaging fee depending on the item, starting cost of R100 per individual item. The cost of wrapping depends on the size of the item. For ALL our items, especially fragile items, i.e. glass and mirrors we recommend professional crating.
For fragile items or items that have glass elements we don't recommend shipment and transport outside of Cape Town.
