A set of six 'Model 422' rosewood dining chairs after Arne Vodder, Denmark
Set of 6 high back dining chairs in rosewood and black leather seats. Designed in the 1960s by Arne Vodder and manufactured by Sibast Møbler, Denmark or possibly by H G Bradley in Harare as there is no maker's mark to confirm. Consequently, the pricing reflects this uncertainty.
This set of Beautiful shaped spindle back dining chairs feature slender rosewood frames with slanted dowels joined to a graceful curved backrest, making them interesting to view from any angle. They are extremely comfortable thanks to the angled spindle back and bowed top, forming a cradle.

Height: 98 cm
Width: 49 cm
Depth: 53 cm
Seat height: 49 cm
Condition: Very good, wear consistent with age and use. Two of the spindles have been repaired. The wooden frames of the chairs have been fully restored, refinished and sealed.

Designer Spotlight | Arne Vodder
Vodder trained as a cabinetmaker and architect, he studied under Finn Juhl at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, graduating in 1947. In 1950, Vodder launched his own architecture and design studio with architect Anton Borg. Vodder is best known for his furniture designs, which tended to be simple pieces composed of natural materials such as rosewood and teak, often inspired by the natural forms, and occasionally accented with colourful panels. Vodder worked with several respected brands throughout his career, designing cabinetry, tables, seating, and more for furniture makers Fritz Hanson, France & Søn, and Sibast.

We deliver locally within Cape Town for a small fee and can accommodate collection by courier or in person. Collections must be made within 7 days of purchase as we cannot hold furniture for extended periods.
For Cape Town deliveries, we include a single layer of bubble wrap, but for fragile items or if additional intensive wrapping, which includes cardboard and many layers of bubble wrap and foam is required/preferred, an extra cost will be charged, please email vintageclubhq@gmail.com for more information.

As to be expected with vintage items, this item may have minor amounts of wear. All of our items are available to view prior to purchase.
Although all effort is made to lightly refurbish and clean our furniture to best represent their original state, it must be noted that the majority of the items we source date from before 1980’s. For this reason signs of their vintage condition & age might still be visible. We try to point out any visible concerns.

Please note that all items shipped outside of Cape Town are wrapped extensively, we charge a small packaging fee depending on the item, starting cost of R150 per individual item. The cost of wrapping depends on the size of the item. For ALL our items, especially fragile items, i.e. glass and mirrors we recommend professional crating.
For fragile items or items that have glass elements we don't recommend shipment and transport outside of Cape Town.
