Original Mid-century Modern Extendable dining-room suite by Duros, South Africa
Vintage dining table suite by Duros (SA)
An elegant vintage extendable dining table in Teak paired with seven chairs by Duros, one of South Africa’s leading producers of modernist furniture.
The chairs are made from solid Burmese Teak, featuring elegantly curved backs and gently contoured seats for enhanced comfort. The table is extendable and features an elegant design with conical tapered legs.
The top smoothly slides apart to reveal two extension leaves stored neatly beneath. Either one or both may be unfolded to extend the table, comfortably accommodating six to eight diners, and up to ten when fully extended.
This set perfectly captures the Scandinavian design aesthetic with its clean lines, refined elegance, lightness of form and organic detailing.

Condition: The chairs and table are structurally sound and sturdy. They have been gently restored and refinished and the set is in good vintage condition. The chairs feature their original vinyl upholstery, which remains in good condition, as expected with vintage pieces, there is a degree of age-related patina, including some marks on some of the seats. Minor veneer chips on the table top edge have been professionally repaired and it barely noticeable. Please see photos for detail, more photos available on request.
A small historic crack to one chair’s back stretcher has been professionally repaired and reinforced, and the chair remains structurally sound.
As with many quality Mid-Century pieces, this design thoughtfully pairs solid wood construction with a premium wood veneer—an approach widely used at the time to highlight beautiful grain patterns while ensuring lasting stability.

Working with vintage pieces means celebrating the character and history each item holds. While we maintain high standards, our pieces are not new — gentle wear and age-related patina are part of their story.
Although we carefully clean and lightly restored each item to honour its original state, most of our furniture dates from the pre-1980s era, and subtle signs of age may still be visible. We make every effort to highlight any notable details or concerns.
We provide detailed photographs, including overall views and close-ups of notable details, which form part of the condition report. We encourage you to review these images carefully, and if you have any questions or would like further clarity, we’re always happy to assist, viewings are welcome by appointment.
