Sculpted finger pulls set flush into a pair of sliding doors — the quiet detail that marks a Frystark piece at a glance. Below, three drawers run the full width above turned tapered legs, with slim raised galleries to either side of the top. Elegant proportions and unbroken grain across the door fronts place this firmly in the Danish-influenced idiom Frystark worked in. Behind the doors, one shelved bay and one open; the centre drawer is fitted for cutlery, divided and lined in green baize, with its original lock escutcheon.

Frystark furniture is renowned for its beautiful shape and high-quality manufacturing, strongly influenced by mid-century Danish and European design.
Founded in 1948 by brothers Derek and Owen Frye, the business gained country-wide reach in 1959 through a merger with G.H. Starck Ltd of Cape Town and their Ndabeni factory — D and O Frye, Starck & Co. Ltd, shortened in daily use to Frystark. Through the 1960s the company stood among South Africa's leading modern furniture makers, working to Scandinavian design principles with the shape and build quality that made its name. AFCOL took over in 1968, turning production toward the more conservative Unita ranges and closing the classic mid-century chapter.
