Rosewood Coffee Table by Johannes Andersen for CFC Silkeborg, Denmark, 1960s
Authentic Vintage Danish coffee/sofa table designed by Johannes Andersen for C.F Christensen (CFC Silkeborg), Denmark, 1960s, in exquisite Brazilian rosewood.
This elegant table features spectacular book-matched grain Brazilian rosewood veneer and a solid wood edge running along its length, and solid sculptural rosewood legs with cross supports. Each end of the table includes convenient integrated extenders with finely contoured pulls—one in rosewood and the other with a black Formica/laminate inlay, perfect for holding drinks and protecting the surface from moisture damage.
Robust yet incredibly elegant, this table embodies the timeless appeal of Danish design. The CFC Silkeborg maker's mark remains intact, ensuring its authenticity and heritage.
Designer: Johannes Andersen
Manufacturer: CFC Silkeborg
Period: 1960s
Origin: Denmark
Material(s): Rosewood, Palisander
Dimensions: Height: 50.8 cm W 159/224cm Depth: 59.69 cm
Condition: This table is remarkably well-preserved considering its age, exhibiting only subtle signs of wear — please refer to the photos for a closer look. The condition is good with a few marks but nothing untoward. It has been meticulously cleaned, polished, and oiled using high-quality materials, preserving its exquisite appearance. Some markings on the top. The vintage rosewood veneer top and solid legs have developed a beautiful, lighter colour due to prolonged light exposure. We believe this unique patina adds to its charm and character, so we opted to keep it as is. We find the light colour particularly appealing and hope you do too.
The table is marked on the bottom by CFC Silkeborg.
Johannes Andersen
Johannes Andersen is one of Denmark's iconic designers who significantly shaped mid-century modern design. A virtually unmatched number of furniture items have been produced based on his designs by a number of furniture makers. Embracing the consumption boom of the fifties and sixties, Andersen focused primarily on seating, such as chairs and sofas, and on tables, often crafted from teak and rosewood. His designs for CF Christensen (CFC Silkeborg), like the Smile table and the faceted coffee table, are particularly emblematic of his style.
Andersen’s work is highly sought after by collectors who appreciate the rich quality and visually pleasing design elements he incorporated. His designs are valued for their distinctive shaping, elegant lines, and cool aesthetics, hallmarks of the Scandinavian style.
