Vintage 1970’s G-Plan 'Form Five' teak wall unit

R27,200.00Price
  • A striking and versatile mid-century teak wall unit by renowned British maker G Plan, designed by R. Bennett as part of the celebrated ‘Form Five’ range, circa late 1960s–1970s.

This impressive two-bay freestanding unit combines open shelving with concealed storage, offering the perfect balance of display and practicality. Its thoughtful configuration includes cupboards with the signature Form Five doors that cleverly slide behind each other, a pull-down drinks cabinet or desk, drawers, and multiple shelves—ideal for books, ceramics, and decorative objects. Most of the shelves are adjustable and removable.

Tall and wide yet shallow in depth, the piece makes a commanding statement without overwhelming a space. Constructed in three sections, with two upper shelving units resting atop a broad low base cabinet, it allows for flexible arrangement, including the option to reposition the upper bays.

With its clean lines, beautifully figured teak, and refined proportions, this piece showcases the modernist elegance of G Plan’s best work and remains a quintessential British mid-century classic—equally at home in contemporary or vintage interiors.

G Plan (E. Gomme Ltd., High Wycombe, England)
G Plan was created in the early 1950s by E. Gomme Ltd as a dedicated brand focused on modern furniture design. Inspired by the emerging Scandinavian aesthetic, G Plan quickly became one of Britain’s most influential mid-century manufacturers, celebrated for its solid craftsmanship, strong design language and high-quality teak furniture. The Fresco range, launched in the mid-1960s, is one of its most recognisable collections and remains highly sought-after today for its clean lines, warm teak finishes and enduring build quality.

As with many quality Mid-Century pieces, this design thoughtfully pairs solid wood construction with a premium wood veneer—an approach widely used at the time to highlight beautiful grain patterns while ensuring lasting stability.
