Omer Meubelfabriek (OMF) Teak Highboard, Belgium, 1960s
A tall, architectural highboard in teak, composed as two registers: an upper bank of hinged doors flanking an open display, set above a run of cabinets and a central tier of three drawers. Sculpted pulls — a restrained, characteristic detail — and the top drawer is fitted and compartmented. The side panels sweep outward from the upper case to the base, and the whole sits on tapered splayed legs joined by side stretchers, which lift its considerable mass and keep the proportions light. Built in the Scandinavian idiom, Belgian in origin. Examples of this model are recorded as having been produced for Harrods of London.
